♡ This Week’s Lesson: Smart Brevity: “Cowards hide in clauses.” This is one of my biggest takeaways from the book Smart Brevity so far. We often mask our insecurities in excessive words, offering excuses out of fear of being seen as too assertive or direct—when, in reality, that’s exactly what people crave in today’s overstimulated world. If you’re not ready to invest in the book (though I highly recommend it), I found an article and video to give you the 411.
♡ Get Better Skin: I’m all about proactively investing in my skincare, and my secret weapon is a rotation of tools to keep my skin tight, bright, and glowing. With BFCM wrapping up, I had to share my latest skincare secrets: it’s all about the tools. You already know I’ve been loving the CurrentBody Mask for months, but this weekend I added this wand and this machine (already sold out at Revolve, if that tells you anything...), and they’ve been game-changers.
♡ The Hot Smart Rich List: Last week I shared the inaugural Hot Smart Rich List for 2024! Enough with the overstimulation of categories and endless lists—I curated truly the best of everything that I already own and LOVE to become a hot, smart, rich girl. ♡ The Word of the Year, My Own Copyright Infringement Scare, and the Lawsuit That Could Change Influencer Marketing: I’ve had a lot of copycats since I started creating content, but this week, I faced a potential trademark infringement issue, and it made me SO happy to have trademarked Hot Smart Rich across 8 different categories. It’s a reminder of why protecting your brand is non-negotiable. The same copyright thing (but worse) happened with Demure this year—recently named Dictionary.com’s Word of the Year, beating out "brat"—and now, Amazon influencers Sydney Nicole Gifford and Alyssa Sheil are locked in a legal battle that could redefine copyright protection in influencer marketing. If this lawsuit sets a precedent, it might forever change how creators safeguard their unique aesthetic and style, and I’ll be sharing more insights for paid subscribers of ICYMI.
