HSR Insider's ICYMI: Issue 025

Health Upgrades, Hot Takes, Vegas, & Brand Marketing Blockbuster

Hallelujah! It’s Sunday!
Time for my favorite part of the week, ICYMI for HSR Insiders.

ICYMI ₊♡₊˚ 🏈・₊✧ ₊

  • Health Upgrades & Dry January: As of Feb 4, I haven't had a drink in over a month and did a lot of firsts; I went on first dates, had a huge work event where I didn't know 99% of people, and even celebrated major milestones, all sober. Waking up from the BILT Casino Royale event without a hangover, no social anxiety and feeling GOOD made me pause to think if I want to make this an even more consistent part of my life. ICYMI, here are the small (and almost free) upgrades I've made to my health to get the biggest impact or glow up like us hot smart rich girls say.

  • This book is changing my life: ICYMI, I posted about Glucose Goddess on my podcast recommendations this week. I am obsessed with her book and it's been changing my life as a PCOS girlie with serious insulin resistance and food anxiety thanks to my celiac disease. I recently told my PCOS dietician with Allara that I'm ALWAYS hungry, but ever since adjusting some lifestyle habits from the Glucose Goddess, I've been feeling good.

  • Bilt Party FITS: I was obsessed with my look at the Bilt Party this week because I actually took the time to plan. As you know, I've adopted a "slow living mindset in a fast paced world" and giving myself permission to spend time on how I present myself left me feeling really good. Here are the links, besties :) black Staud dress, house of CB shoes, black glasses, bracelets from love AJ and Zara, and my earring were HM.

  • Hot Take: Curiosity did not kill the cat. It actually helped it live 9 lives. I would know because my career is coming up on 9 lives and has held many roles. I'm often asked how I've jumped from industry to industry, role to role and it's quite simple, I ask great questions and take my consultative sales approach instilled in me at Salesforce to figure out where someone is experiencing pain and how I can be helpful to try and solve it. By being in person this week, I gained serious intel into a company I've been courting, what they're working on, how they make money, and what is a top priority. This is going to completely change how I approach doing business with them this year. Remember, nobody is you and that is your superpower. Food for thought.

  • Deal Flow & Trends: I have a lot of deals come across my desk across so many categories but this month, I have seen so many businesses trying to solve the issue round constipation. It was interesting that my friends Nish and Siff at Arrae launched their constipation supplement this week. I can't help but think, maybe this is all a coincidence or maybe there's something bigger behind the "push" to solve being clogged up (pun intended). My HSR Insiders can use code HSR15 for 15% off your Arrae order.

  • My first LA HSR Walk: It's happening!! We're doing Saturday Feb 24 @ 10am in Beverly Hills!! Make sure you're signed up HERE to get notifications about the walk! Really hoping it doesn't rain because the only thing stopping me from meeting you all IRL and see you all become friends is rain. Fingers Crossed.

  • Art: ICYMI, I was posting some of my favorite art pieces and inspo on my IG stories this week. If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with art and have some fun content coming up! I had a lot of inquiries about Masterworks and what I think about the platform. I want to be able to speak to the right person at Masterworks to learn more so if anyone has a contact there please reply to this email!

Universal pulls the plug on TikTok: This is major news that I'm sure you've heard about but I wanted to share my POV as someone who has worked in the music industry. Even back in 2021, in order to get signed by a label or release a new single, an artist had to have a song go viral on TikTok. It made me wonder what is UMGs marketing strategy going to be when they've effectively removed their free testing ground? I'm sure the finance team did a cost benefit of if we don't have TT, we're going to have to spend $X on marketing to gets song into the Billboard Top 10 but it still feels like an aggressive call to make. For UMG, this is a power play where they anticipate that there will be serious eyeballs migrating of TikTok because their artists aren't on the platform. I looked back at my last month of content and only 2 out of 30 (6%) videos had audio removed and think that TikTok has evolved from a platform where teens are posting videos of choreographed dance routines to UMGs music. I don't personally anticipate eyeballs will be migrating off of TikTok in a major way since the likes of Atlantic, Warner, Sony (and others) are still hanging around. The only place I see this getting interesting is if the other labels get involved or dare I say, the Swifties. Taylor swift has proved her worth in the last few years to be the catalyst for major cultural changes so if the Swifties get activated, who knows what could happen....

Mejuri is having a moment: Taylor, Renee Rap, Selfridges. I mean, the devil works hard but the Mejuri PR team is working harder. This week the brand pushed the message that Taylor has been wearing their ring all NFL season long, launched a new campaign with Renee Rap, and opened a pop up in Selfridges. Their week is making me sweat!!! In case you haven't figured it out yet, THIS is the red ring that Taylor has worn to almost every Chiefs game this season. If you're looking to add some red to your superbowl fit for next weekend, Mejuri has you covered.

Kristin Juszczyk: This 49ers WAG has made the most out of her partner's profession and has taken the WAGS by storm! Taylor Swift, Brittany Mahomes, Olivia Cuplo, and Simone Biles are all fans. The NFL has taken note of Kristin's design business and she's been able strike a licensing deal where she'll now be able to use the NFL logo on her designs. All I can say is what jersey and number should I be wearing next year?

The Beckhams Take The Superbowl: All I can say is this is the best Superbowl ad I've seen so far. It currently has 18.5M views on Victoria's Instagram and counting. Head over to the @hotsmartrich Instagram stories to let me know what your favorite superbowl ad is so far! If you don't already follow my Insider only Instagram account, now is the time besties!

Superstar Superbowl Events: Brands are heavily leaning into being culturally relevant at the Super Bowl. I've been preaching this for a long time with the HSR Brand Bible and The HSR Brand Marketing Principles - capitalize on cultural moments. Yours truly might have been granted access to these parties and want to do a behind the scenes breakdown like my rating of the CHD tour in November. Let me know on the @hotsmartrich Instagram stories which parties you want me to share my unfiltered thoughts and honest reviews on.

Deux: Sabeena is such a hot smart rich founder. From getting ripped apart on Shark Tank for wearing a pink suit to raising over $6M for her brand, she has really risen above and proved she has what it takes to go all the way. She's an HSR founder and someone I feel VERY lucky to know and be invested in her success in.

Marlow: I love this brand and the team! Marlow has created first lubricated tampon (FDA approved) targeted towards a Gen-Z audience. They have gone viral on Tiktok with over 100 million views and 10 million likes, and has organically created an online community of over 70,000 individuals! Alongside Dream Ventures, they are hosting an investor information session at The Well in NYC on Feb 7! If you're an accredited angel or vc investor and want the details, please reply to this email and we'll connect you!

I'm learning to trust people when it comes to helping me grow and scale HSR. I have big plans besties so this is a big priority. Publicly disclosing what I'm not the best at is scary but I know you're here for the authenticity and to learn from me so here we go. I know I'm an amazing individual contributor but I'll be honest, my biggest achilles heel in business has always been that I struggle at delegating and then I tend to get in my own way.

As an example, I'm a creative and am the best at idea creation and creating value add and engaging content. It's literally my passion. But ask me to then involve a team to help research and produce the content and I fall flat. Building processes and hiring and managing teams is not my forte so thank god it's my sister's. I trust her more than anyone and have still struggled with letting go of certain elements of control. It honestly hasn't been until this past month that we're REALLY figured out how to operate in our own lanes and fully let the other person execute.

So if you're trying to grow and scale yourself, do this simple exercise in your your notes app and then set some goals around using what you're good at to get ahead or to work on the things that aren't your forte. If you're looking for help on setting goals and investing in yourself, you can use The HSR 50-20-20-10 Method to get started!
